David Deacon
David Deacon is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium where he studied violin and viola with Elizabeth Morgan and John Curro. David also undertook post graduate studies with the German violist, Wolfram Christ – Principal Viola of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
From an early age David was an active soloist, chamber player and orchestral musician performing across Australia and throughout Europe and America and winning numerous prizes for solo and chamber music performance.David was Principal Viola of the Queensland and Australian Youth Orchestras and joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 1996 as the youngest musician in the ensemble.
In 2008, David accepted the role of Head of Strings at St Peters Lutheran College as a new career path in music education. Through ensembles like the St Peters Soloists, Amadeus Strings and St Peters String Quartet, David continues to pass on his knowledge learnt through performing with the world’s best to St Peters music students. David is a regular tutor at the McGregor Summer School in Toowoomba, has tutored many Youth Orchestras in Sydney and Brisbane, has taught at University of Queensland and continues to teach at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
